New contracts for Silvertips, Bruins
Two press releases from Wednesday, and one from today.
1. Silvertips extend coaching contracts
Everett Silvertips Vice President / General Manager Doug Soetaert announced Wednesday that the contracts of Head Coach Craig Hartsburg, Associate Head Coach Jay Varady, and Assistant Coach Chris Hartsburg have been extended through the 2012-13 season. In 2009-10, the Silvertips posted the second-best regular season in franchise history by finishing 46-21-3-2 for 97 points, tying the Tri-City Americans for the most points in the Western Conference while allowing a WHL-low 175 goals. By the way, one of my favourite writers, Nick Patterson of the Everett Herald, touches on upcoming Silvertips prospects. More on that here.
2. Bruins hire Contacher as assistant GM
Chilliwack Bruins General Manager and Head Coach Marc Habscheid announced (Wednesday) that the Bruins have hired Pat Conacher as Assistant General Manager and Assistant Coach.

In other WHL news, John MacNeil of the Prince Albert Daily Herald — who has been busy writing a lot about the local team lately — talked to a couple of Raider prospects, one who looks to be joining the team and one who isn't. More on that here and here.
Also, the WHL issued a press release today (Thursday) on the 10 WHL alumni who played for Chicago.
